Aggravated Assult Felony Dismissed - State v. Ryan B.

Defendant was accused of a felony Aggravated Assault that came from a street fight with the alleged victim. The alleged victim suffered a skull fracture and had over $70,000 in medical bills. After a detailed investigation and pre-trial work-up, Attorney Zerillo was able to convince the prosecutor to dismiss the felony aggravated assault, in favor of a plea to a misdemeanor assault, with a year of probation.

Alimony Awarded to Husband - Francine D. v. Gary D.

I won't review the 10 page Divorce Judgment here, but the most interesting thing after trial was the Order by the Judge that the Wife be ordered to pay my client $750 per month in spousal support (commonly known as alimony) for the next 8 years. This is interesting primarily because it is so rare for a husband to win a spousal support award from his wife (especially after a finding by the Court that the husband had a significant alcohol abuse issue). The bailiff commented during trial that he had only seen it happen once, and in my experience it is rare.
