Grand Jury Transcripts Article Published in Maine Lawyer's Review

I am pleased to report that the Maine Lawyer's Review has published in its December 20, 2007 edition, my article, "Yes Virginia, There Are Grand Jury Transcripts." This article serves as a primer to attorneys attempting to get Grand Jury transcripts in criminal cases, which is a difficult process at best in the State of Maine. The article can be found in the Maine Lawyer's Review, or can be reproduced by ZERILLO LAW, LLC on request. ~Tim

Seasons Greetings

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a happy and prosperous New Years to you and yours from ZERILLO LAW, LLC.

Deferred Disposition in Domestic Violence Assault Case

Attorney Amy Robidas of ZERILLO LAW, LLC negotiated and entered a deferred disposition for our client who was charged with a domestic violence assault. The conditions of the deferment includes counseling over a 6 month period, at which time all charges will be dismissed. As a result, our client will not have a criminal record, which is a great victory for him. No criminal record, no jail time, no probation, just counseling. If you are facing a DV assault, this is a great result.

Dismissal of Assault Charge - State v. Sherry K.

I was able to get an assault charge dismissed today in the York County Superior Court. In our view, the alleged victim was retaliating against our client, who called child protective services to complain about the alleged victim over the summer. We were able to provide alibi information to the Assistant District Attorney, who was reasonable and thoughtful about negotiating the case, and decided to dismiss it. ~TZ

Let It Snow

Well, the first snow storm of the year is packing quite a punch. All the Courts in York and Cumberland County are closed today, and I will be working from home for the afternoon. Email me at tim@getzerillo.com if anything is needed. ~TZ
