(Portland, Maine) June 4, 2012 - Timothy E. Zerillo, founder of Zerillo Law, LLC in Portland, ME, has been selected the winner of the President's Award by the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the State's largest criminal defense organization.

The President's Award, given annually, is given to the attorney who best exemplifies the goals and values of the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the legal profession.

Attorney Zerillo (www.GetZerillo.com) founded Zerillo Law, LLC in Portland, Maine in 2001.  Attorney Zerillo practices in Courts throughout Maine, in Federal Courts for the District of Maine, in the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston, and in the Supreme Court of the United States.  Attorney Zerillo's practice includes plaintiff's personal injury and catastrophic injury representation, criminal defense, commercial and business litigation, and family law and divorce.

Attorney Zerillo is a former President of the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyer's, where he currently serves as Chair of their Legal Education Committee.  He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (www.NACDL.com), American Association for Justice (www.justice.org), the Edward Gignoux Inn of Court and the Maine Trial Lawyer's Association.  Attorney Zerillo is also peer review rated by Martindale Hubbell.

In 2010, Attorney Zerillo achieved a rare diversion in Federal Court for a United States soldier and Afghanistan combat veteran accused of a Federal Drug Conspiracy involving in excess of a kilogram of cocaine transported from California to Maine.  There was national press coverage of this case.  Attorney Zerillo reported to the Boston Globe and the Portland Press Herald that the case was among the most important of his career.

Tim Zerillo Speaks at Maine Association on Criminal Defense Lawyers Annual Continuing Legal Education Conference

I was invited to speak before the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in their annual Continuing Legal Education conference yesterday, teaching criminal defense lawyers about collateral consequences related to firearms rights. In other words, the talk related to criminal cases that could disqualify people from being allowed to possess firearms under the Federal Gun Control Act.
